The City Of Leicester's secondary schools are benefiting from a massive £27 million investment in ICT as part of the UK Government's ambitious Building Schools For The Future programme.

The town of Twardogóra in Poland has just played host to the annual School Network Administrators Conference, D-Kassk and NetSupport's partner in the region, ALWO, were invited along to showcase the latest developments in the company's education range.

Keeping up with software updates for 400 workstations was too time-consuming to manage during the school year. It took almost 300 hours during the summer to accomplish the task, which meant one full-time person. "Since using NetSupport School, we are able to keep the students more focused on their task during the short time frame that we have them each week. When they come in, I have the Computers locked down so that I have their full attention while giving them instructions for their daily lessons. Then when I unlock them, I can monitor them from one central location without the fear of them going off track. NetSupport has also been a great resource for being able to demonstrate from my computer to theirs on new lessons and activities. "I am a social studies teacher here at Roosevelt High School and am currently serving as the Title One Coordinator. We are a year-round school. With Title I funds we recently purchased 30 laptops along with a laptop cart to provide classes and/or workshops to our parents, students, and teachers. The main purpose, though, was to use the laptops for our very successful A-ST@R Program (After School Tutoring @ Roosevelt), which has grown from 7-10 students per day in November/December 2007 to 50-70 students per day by the end of August 2008. With the laptops serving as an additional resource for our students, we are now providing tutoring to between 100-110 students per day. Our A-ST@R Program runs Monday through Friday from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. and offers tutoring, study hall, and detention hour removal for our students.
